EBOOKS
The easiest way: the BookFunnel app
- Install the free BookFunnel app.
- Open the app, tap Library, and sign in with your purchase email. Or enter the code from your download page.
- Tap the book and start reading. You can also send it from the app to Kindle or another reading app.
Kindle app or Kindle e-reader (Paperwhite, Oasis, Scribe and others)
Kindle books arrive through Amazon's free Send to Kindle service. There are two easy options.
Option 1: BookFunnel app, the fastest way on a phone or tablet
- Install the BookFunnel app.
- Open your book in the app and tap Send to Kindle.
- Type the author name when prompted so the book files correctly in your Kindle library.
- The book appears in your Kindle library as a personal document within about ten minutes.
Option 2: any web browser, on a computer, phone or tablet
- Open your BookFunnel download link and choose Kindle. Save the file to your device.
- Go to your Amazon store's Send to Kindle page and sign in: amazon.com/sendtokindle, amazon.co.uk/sendtokindle, amazon.com.au/sendtokindle, amazon.ca/sendtokindle, amazon.de/sendtokindle, amazon.fr/sendtokindle, amazon.it/sendtokindle, amazon.es/sendtokindle, amazon.in/sendtokindle, amazon.com.br/sendtokindle, amazon.com.mx/sendtokindle, amazon.co.jp/sendtokindle, amazon.nl/sendtokindle
- Upload the file and add the author name. Make sure your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi.
Full walkthrough with screenshots: BookFunnel's Send to Kindle guide. Send to Kindle by email still works, but Amazon's direct upload above is now the recommended method.
Please note: books delivered this way are added to your Kindle library as personal documents. This is normal. It is how all direct-from-author ebooks reach a Kindle.
Kobo
- Open your BookFunnel link and choose Kobo. The app will guide you, or you can download the EPUB file.
- On a phone or tablet: in the BookFunnel app, open the book and choose Send to another app, then choose Kobo.
- On a Kobo e-reader: download the EPUB to your computer, connect the Kobo with its USB cable, choose Manage Library on the device, then drag the EPUB into the Kobo drive. Eject safely and the book appears in your library.
Kobo's official instructions: Add ePub files to your Kobo eReader using your computer.
Nook and Barnes and Noble
- Download the EPUB from your BookFunnel link.
- Nook app: save the EPUB to your device, then add it using the app's sideload option. Barnes and Noble instructions.
- Nook e-reader: connect your Nook to your computer with its USB cable, open the NOOK drive, and drop the EPUB into the Books folder. Eject safely. Barnes and Noble instructions.
Apple Books, Google Play Books, Moon Reader and other apps
Download the EPUB from your BookFunnel link, then open it in your preferred app. In the BookFunnel app you can also tap the book and choose Send to another app, then pick your reading app.
Reading in your browser, with no app and no download
Log in at my.bookfunnel.com and read the book right in your browser using the BookFunnel Cloud Reader.
AUDIOBOOKS
Audiobooks are delivered through the free BookFunnel app. Think of it as your own private audiobook player, with playback speed control, bookmarks and a sleep timer.
Listen on your phone or tablet
- Install the free BookFunnel app for iPhone, iPad, Android or Kindle Fire tablet.
- Open the app and either enter the code from your BookFunnel email, or tap Library and sign in with the email address you used at checkout.
- Tap the audiobook and press play. Tap the download icon first if you want to listen offline.
Want to test the app before your book arrives? Install it and enter the demo code BZHVTDB for a free copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Listen on a computer, with no app needed
Log in at my.bookfunnel.com and click the audiobook to stream it in the BookFunnel Cloud Player. This works in any modern browser.
Can I listen on my Kindle, Kobo, Nook, Audible or Spotify?
Not directly. Audiobooks bought here are not added to Audible, Spotify or your Kindle, Kobo or Nook library. Listen in the BookFunnel app or the browser player instead. Kindle Fire tablets can run the BookFunnel app, but Kindle e-readers cannot.
Can I listen to a sample before I buy?
Yes. Every audiobook has a SoundCloud sample on its product page. Do have a listen first, as audiobooks are instant downloads and cannot be refunded for change of mind.
PREORDERS
What happens when I preorder?
You are charged straight away, using the payment method you choose at checkout. Your book is then delivered automatically on release day, by an email from BookFunnel.
If the email has not arrived on release day:
- Check your spam folder, and if you use Gmail, check your Promotions tab.
- Log in at my.bookfunnel.com with the email address you used at checkout. Your book will be waiting there.
- Do you have more than one email address? The book is delivered to the address you used at checkout, so check that inbox first.
Can I cancel a preorder?
Yes, at any time before it is dispatched, or for digital titles before the download link is sent. Just email tamaragillauthor@gmail.com and I will refund you in full.
PAYMENT
What payment methods do you accept?
- Credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express
- PayPal
- Shop Pay
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Afterpay, so you can buy now and pay in four instalments
- Store credit and gift cards, if you have any on your account
What currency will I be charged in?
Your own, in most cases. This is an Australian store, but prices are shown and charged in your local currency wherever it is supported, including US dollars, pounds, euros, Canadian dollars and New Zealand dollars. You can see the currency in the store menu and it is confirmed again at checkout before you pay.
If your currency is not supported, you will be charged in Australian dollars (AUD) and your bank or card provider will handle the conversion.
Do you accept cryptocurrency?
Not at the moment. Please use one of the payment methods listed above.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. All payments are processed by Shopify or PayPal over a secure encrypted connection. This store never sees or stores your card details.
PRINTED BOOKS
Who prints and posts my paperback?
Printed books are made to order by Bookvault, which has printing facilities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and Canada. Wherever possible your order is printed at the facility closest to you, so it arrives as a domestic parcel.
Because every copy is printed after you buy it rather than sitting in a warehouse, printing time comes before shipping time. Nothing arrives by email.
How long will my printed book take?
Your book is printed first, then posted - so there are two waits, not one.
Printing
- Paperbacks: 3-5 business days
- Hardbacks and bespoke special editions: 25-30 business days, and printed in the United Kingdom only
Then posting. You choose your delivery option at checkout, so how long this takes is partly up to you - a priority service is quicker than an economy one. The figures below are approximate totals from placing your order to the parcel arriving, assuming a standard delivery option:
| Delivered to | Paperback | Hardback or special edition |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | about 1-2 weeks | about 6-7 weeks |
| Australia | about 1-2 weeks | about 7-10 weeks |
| Canada | about 1-2 weeks | about 7-10 weeks |
| United States | about 1-3 weeks | about 6-7 weeks |
| Europe | about 2-3 weeks | about 6-8 weeks |
| Rest of the world | about 3-5 weeks | about 7-10 weeks |
Choosing a faster delivery option shortens the posting half, but not the printing half. A special edition still needs its 25-30 business days on the press before anyone can post it.
Special editions really do take this long. They are hand-finished to order, and if you are ordering one outside the UK, Europe or the US please allow up to ten weeks. Printing can run longer again during busy periods such as Christmas and new releases.
These are estimates rather than guarantees. Once a parcel is with the postal service its progress is out of my hands. You will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number once your parcel leaves the printer.
Why is my order shipping from the United Kingdom?
Some titles can only be printed in the UK. This applies to all hardbacks and bespoke special editions, and to any book in the 4.25 x 7 inch size.
If your order contains one of these, the whole order is printed and shipped from the UK - including any standard paperbacks in the same order that could otherwise have been printed near you. That means higher postage, a longer wait, and possible customs charges if you are outside the UK.
If you would rather your paperbacks came from your local printer, please order them separately.
I ordered a paperback and a special edition together. When will they arrive?
Together, once every item has been printed - which means the special edition's longer printing time applies to the whole order. If you need the paperback sooner, order it on its own.
Do you offer free shipping?
Not on printed books. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and what you have ordered. Ebooks and audiobooks are emailed, so no shipping cost applies to them.
CUSTOMS, IMPORT TAXES AND DUTIES
Will I have to pay anything extra when my parcel arrives?
Printed books are free of customs duty in most countries, but import taxes such as VAT or GST, and carrier handling fees, can still apply. Parcels ship on Delivered Duty Unpaid terms, so where charges apply they are collected from the recipient on delivery.
- United Kingdom: printed in the UK, so domestic. Nothing to pay.
- European Union, orders under €150: VAT is collected at checkout. The price in your cart is final and there is nothing further to pay.
- European Union, orders over €150: VAT cannot be prepaid, so import VAT and a handling fee are collected on delivery. Special editions are the most likely to push an order over this threshold.
- United States: standard paperbacks are printed locally and arrive as domestic parcels. Orders routed through the UK printer arrive as imports, and since the US ended its $800 duty-free allowance in August 2025, charges may apply regardless of value.
- Canada: standard paperbacks are printed locally. Orders from the UK printer are imports, and Canada's duty-free threshold for UK parcels is only CAD 20, so charges are likely.
- Australia: standard paperbacks are printed locally. Orders from the UK printer may attract GST and handling fees.
- Everywhere else: any import taxes or handling fees are the recipient's responsibility, and vary by country. I am not able to tell you in advance what they will be.
If a parcel is refused because you do not want to pay the charges, it may be destroyed or returned to the printer, and I am not able to refund the order in those circumstances.
RETURNS, DAMAGE AND MISSING PARCELS
Can I return a book because I changed my mind?
No. Printed books are made to order and digital books are delivered instantly, so change-of-mind returns are not accepted, including for incorrect product selection. Please do check formats and titles carefully before you order, and listen to the SoundCloud sample before buying an audiobook.
This does not affect the rights you have by law. If something is faulty, damaged, or not what was described, the sections below apply, and nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer protection law of your own country.
My book arrived damaged or faulty. What do I do?
Email me at tamaragillauthor@gmail.com within 14 days of delivery with:
- your order number
- the name and email address on the order
- clear photos of the shipping satchel or box, and of the damage itself
Accepted claims are replaced or refunded. Because our books are printed to order, small variations between copies are normal and are not treated as defects - dents or crushed corners under 1.5cm, marks or scratches under 1cm, minor page rippling, light residue on covers or sprayed edges, creasing at the spine ends, and slight variation in colour, foil or print alignment. Overstock and clearance copies may have minor shelf wear. Full detail is in the refund policy.
My parcel has not arrived.
Email me within 30 days of the shipping date and I will investigate with the printer and carrier. Where tracking shows a parcel as delivered, the order is treated as fulfilled.
Orders placed with an incorrect or incomplete shipping address are not eligible for replacement or refund, so please check your address before completing checkout. If you spot a mistake, email me straight away - an address can sometimes be corrected before printing finishes, but never after dispatch.
I bought the same ebook twice by mistake.
It happens more often than you would think. Email me at tamaragillauthor@gmail.com within 48 hours of the first purchase and I will add the value of the duplicate to your account as store credit, which you can spend on any title in the shop. If you would rather have a refund to your original payment method, just say so and that is fine too.
My file will not download, or it is the wrong book.
Email me at tamaragillauthor@gmail.com and I will sort it out. A file that fails to download, arrives corrupted, or is the wrong title is always put right.
I am in the European Union. Can I return a printed book?
Yes. EU customers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on printed books, without needing to give a reason, under Directive 2011/83/EU as amended. You can use the withdrawal function in your customer account, complete the withdrawal form, or simply email me a clear statement of your decision.
Return postage is at your cost. I will refund the purchase price plus the standard outbound delivery cost within 14 days of being told of your decision, though I may wait until the book is back or you have shown evidence of posting it.
This right does not apply to ebooks and audiobooks, as immediate delivery consent is given at checkout, or to signed and personalised items made to your specification.
Can I cancel or return a signed or personalised book?
Not once personalisation has begun, unless the item is faulty or not as described. Signatures and hand-finished details are done by hand and vary between copies, which is not a defect. Please double-check the spelling of any personalisation before ordering, as it cannot be changed afterwards.
